BUENOS AIRES, Feb 9 (Reuters) - River Plate scored a comfortable 2-0 home win over Gimnasia-Jujuy to stay in touch with the leading pack in Argentina's Clausura championship race.
Wednesday night's match, postponed due to River's participation in the preliminary round of the Libertadores Cup, swung the home club's way when full-back Federico Dominguez forced home a loose ball from a corner kick.
Striker Ernesto Farias extended the lead with a powerful second-half header from a curling cross by Dominguez.
The result means River joins a cluster of clubs on six points, one point behind the leaders Independiente, Estudiantes and Colon.
In the other match played on Wednesday Gimnasia-La Plata drew 0-0 with Arsenal Sarandi.
