Galaxy trades draft pick King to Rapids

CARSON, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Galaxy traded forward Aaron King, the final player chosen in last month's Major League Soccer draft, to the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday for a first-round choice in the 2007 supplemental draft.

King was North Carolina State's leading scorer in each of the past four seasons and finished fourth on the school's all-time list with 44 goals and seventh with 103 points.

"Though we would have enjoyed seeing Aaron play for the Galaxy, we realize that having him play close to his home will give him the best chance to start and develop his career," Galaxy president and general manager Doug Hamilton said.

King was chosen in the fourth round, 48th overall.
