Gabri shuns West Ham to stay with Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Gabri will stay with the Spanish champions until the end of the season despite reportedly holding talks with West Ham.

Gabri, who can operate in midfield or at full-back, reportedly held talks with the Hammers after Barca agreed to let him leave but has opted against a move to the Premiership and will now remain at the Nou Camp until his current deal expires in the summer.

'After much consideration, my final decision is to remain at Barca,' said Gabri at a press conference.

'There have been some offers, but in the end, having spoken to my family, I have decided to stay. My mind is now only at Barcelona.'

Gabri, 27 next month, has suffered with form and fitness this season but is willing to fight it out for a place in Frank Rijkaard's star-studded squad.

'I am aware that it will be difficult to have minutes but I have to fight until the end,' he added.
