Tunisia promise not to ease up against Guinea

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Holders Tunisia, already through to the African Nations Cup quarter-finals, say there will be no repeat of their lame 1-1 draw with Guinea two years ago when the teams meet again on Monday.

Tunisia, who have started with two wins, are determined to finish top of Group C to avoid travelling to Port Said in the last eight.

Guinea, also through to the quarter-finals with two victories from two matches, only trail Tunisia on goal difference.

The two sides met in their final group match at the 2004 Nations Cup in Tunisia. On that occasion, the hosts had qualified with a match to spare and the draw allowed Guinea to advance with them, ahead of Democratic Republic of Congo.

'We will play to win,' Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre told reporters on Sunday. 'We are happy here and we want to stay here for the knockout stages.

'I know Guinea very well. They are the most European team here, nearly all of their players are based in Europe.'

'We like the environment here and we are all very determined to win this match,' added Tunisia's English-based defender Radhi Jaidi.

Tunisia also met Guinea on their way to qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, losing 2-1 in Conakry before winning the return 2-0 in Tunis.
