AMSTERDAM, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Ajax Amsterdam were thrashed 4-1 at home by Utrecht on Sunday after Jefferson Farfan and Philip Cocu scored second half goals to give leaders PSV Eindhoven a 2-0 win at ADO Den Haag.
Champions PSV struggled for almost an hour with ADO's aggressive approach before Cocu set up Farfan to open the scoring after he beat goalkeeper Dorus de Vries.
Cocu added a second with 12 minutes remaining when he latched on to a DaMarcus Beasley free kick in the area.
After 21 matches PSV are top with 51 points, three more than AZ Alkmaar who crushed Roda JC Kerkrade 4-1 on Friday.
Feyenoord, travelling to Heracles Almelo later today, are third with 45 while Utrecht moved into fourth on 36 points following their stunning win at Ajax.
Moroccan Adil Ramzi scored a hat-trick and gave Utrecht the lead in the second minute.
Eight minutes later Tomas Galasek had a chance to equalise but fired his penalty over the Utrecht bar.
Seconds after the interval Markus Rosenberg drew Ajax level from close range from an Angelos Charisteas pass but the lead lasted only two minutes before Ramzi headed home his second.
Ramzi completed his hat-trick and Robin Nelisse converted a late penalty to rub salt into the wounds of Ajax who play arch-rivals Feyenoord next weekend. Ajax slipped to seventh with 34 points.
