ATHENS, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Egaleo continued their push for a UEFA Cup spot after former Portsmouth midfielder Yiannis Skopelitis helped secure a 3-0 victory at first division strugglers Akratitos on Saturday.
The result moved Egaleo into seventh position on 25 points and sent Akratitos to the bottom of the table in place of Kallithea, who beat 10th-placed Larissa 2-1.
Skopelitis rejoined Egaleo this month after an unsuccessful 12-month spell in the English Premier League.
The 27-year-old notched his side's third goal with a shot from outside the area in the 70th minute.
Anastasis Agritis had opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Niko Nikolopoulos made it 2-0.
In Saturday's other game, Kallithea won in the league for only the second time this season.
A free kick from Serbian midfielder Goran Petkovic sailed into Larissa's net in the 20th minute.
Larissa's German defender Marco Foerster was sent off three minutes later but the visitors hit back with a goal from Brazilian Vela Junior.
Kallithea regained the lead after 38 minutes thanks to another free kick from Petkovic.
