U.S. defeats Canada, in U-20 CONCACAF Cup final
VERACRUZ, Mexico -- Amy Rodriguez, Jessica Rodstedt and Lauren Cheney each scored a goal to lead the United States to a 3-2 victory over Canada on Friday in the Under-20 CONCACAF World Cup final.
Nancy Gandarilla scored twice to give Mexico the last spot in the World Cup after defeating Jamaica 4-1.
The U.S., Canada, and Russia will participate in the World Cup this year in Russia.
The U.S. overcame a 2-1 deficit with goals from Rodriguez in the eighth minute, Rodstedt in the 72nd and Cheney in the 81st. Aysha Jamani scored for Canada in the 56th minute and Jodi-Ann Robinson put the Canadians briefly ahead in the 60th minute.
In the Mexico game, Gandarallia scored in the 46th and 90th minutes.
