De Jong trades Amsterdam for Hamburg
AMSTERDAM, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Ajax Amsterdam's Dutch international defender Nigel de Jong has agreed a 4 1/2 year deal with Hamburg SV, the club announced on Thursday.
Local media reports said Ajax would receive 1 million euros ($1.22 million) for the 21-year-old, whose contract was due to expire in July.
De Jong made his debut for the Netherlands in March 2004 and has played 10 matches. He will join fellow Dutch internationals Khalid Boulahrouz and Rafael van der Vaart at Hamburg.
Hamburg are second in the Bundesliga, six points behind Bayern Munich.
