Injured Abreu pulls out of Nations Cup
CAIRO, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Injury has ruled Angola defender Marco Abreu out of the rest of the African Nations Cup finals.
Abreu, who plays for Portuguese second division team Portimonense, had just been brought into the side to replace regular left back Yamba Asha, who has been handed a nine month drugs ban by FIFA and will miss the World Cup.
He won his first cap in a friendly against Morocco just before the Nations Cup but pulled a muscle in his second international, Angola's 3-1 defeat by the Democratic Republic of Congo in their opening Group B match in Cairo on Saturday.
Abreu is Angola's third injury casualty in the last 10 days. They lost star midfielder Gilberto and reserve goalkeeper Lama to injury before the tournament in Egypt began.
