Chivas USA deals first-round pick for Marsch
CARSON, Calif. -- Chivas USA acquired midfielder Jesse Marsch from the Chicago Fire on Tuesday in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2007 MLS supplemental draft.
Marsch has 23 goals and 32 assists in 215 games over 10 seasons, including five goals and two assists last year.
The trade reunites Marsch with Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley, who coached him in college at Princeton and with the D.C. United and Chicago.
Because Marsch is unsigned, the trade was for his rights, but he is expected to sign shortly with Chivas USA and report Feb. 1 when the team begins training camp.
