Philadelphia -- Despite having been fired by the MetroStars last October, Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley had no problem making a trade with his former club. Bradley kicked off the 2006 MLS Draft by trading the No. 1 overall pick to the Metros for the No. 5 overall pick and defender Jason Hernandez. The MetroStars used the No. 1 selection to take UCLA defender Marvell Wynne.
A rookie last season, Hernandez played just three games for the MetroStars, but emerged late in the year as a solid right back under coach Mo Johnston.
By acquiring Hernandez, Chivas USA addressed the need for a right fullback while retaining a high first round selection which the team used to take Seton Hall standout Sacha Kljestan.
