ROME, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Italy and Germany will play a pre-World Cup friendly at Florence's Franchi stadium on March 1, the Italian Football Federation confirmed on their website.
The match will pit two of the favourites against each other. Germany are hosts, while Italy finished comfortably top of qualifying Group Five to book their place in the finals.
It will be the first time the two sides have faced each other since Italy beat Germany 1-0 in a friendly in Stuttgart in August 2003.
Italy last played at the Franchi stadium in 1993, when goals by Roberto Baggio and Paolo Maldini gave them a 2-0 victory over Mexico.
