Wolves chairman denies Bhoys Miller interest

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has denied Kenny Miller is poised for an imminent move to Celtic, despite increasing speculation north of the border.

The 26-year-old Miller, who joined Wanderers from Rangers for a £3million fee in December 2001, is out of contract at the end of the season and has so far rejected offers to sign an extension.

A proposed £1.4million move to Sheffield United fell through because Miller quickly signalled he was less than keen on a move to Bramall Lane while Birmingham and Blackburn are also potential suitors.

The Scottish international has now spoken to Celtic but Moxey claims nothing has been finalised.

He said: 'I think people are getting ahead of themselves a bit here.

'Just like any player who is out of contract at the end of the season, Kenny is entitled to speak to other clubs.

'But we've only had one bid for him, from Sheffield United, and we didn't accept that.'

However, the players' agent, David Baldwin, has already confirmed Hoops manager Gordon Strachan's interest in Miller and cited the Glasgow giants' possible qualification for next season's Champions League as a major incentive for Miller.

Meanwhile, Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle is facing a battle to hang onto another of his forwards while negotiations to add to his squad appear to have hit the buffers.

With talks over the signing of Milton Keynes Dons frontman Izale McLeod dissolving amid acrimony last week, Wolves turned their attention towards Polish international striker Tomasz Frankowski, who is currently plying his trade with Spanish outfit Eche.

But with the Spaniards having turned down a third bid - reportedly of £1.2million - for Frankowski, the Black Country club might yet have to look elsewhere.

And to add to Hoddle's headaches, Vio Ganea's agent has stated the Romanian might have to leave Molineux if his career is to progress.

The 32-year-old Ganea, who missed the whole of last season due to cruciate knee ligament damage, has slipped down Wanderers' pecking order.

And his agent, Gary Williams said: 'Coventry and Cardiff have shown an interest and Leeds were having a look but I'm not sure if they're still keen though.

'And the Cardiff situation depends on whether Cameron Jerome moves on.

'The problem for Vio is that he's not had enough games, he's not been playing regularly.

'Wolves are actively seeking another striker and although Vio is settled at the club, he may have to move in order to play regularly.'
