Leagues round-up: Cameron to leave Wolves?

WOLVES manager Glenn Hoddle has revealed midfielder Colin Cameron is free to leave the club - but says there is no rush for him to depart.

Cameron, 33, has been at Molineux for nearly four and a half years after a £1.75million move from Hearts and, with his contract up at the end of the summer, it has been agreed that he can leave the club during the transfer window.

But Hoddle told the club's official website: 'It's not a matter of us saying that we are releasing him.

'Colin's agent was letting people know he was out of contract at the end of this season and that prompted us to have a chat with him about his situation.

'The outcome is that if the right club comes in for Colin, at this stage of his career it would be right for him to move on.

'But if he ends up staying until the end of the season that's fine because he is a good pro. It's just that his opportunities here might be limited now we have Mark Davies, Denes Rosa and Rohan Ricketts in the squad.'

David Tuttle appears certain to remain as MILLWALL manager until the end of the season after showdown talks.

Tuttle - at 33 the youngest manager in the Coca-Cola Championship - claimed he has the blessing of Lions chairman Peter de Savary and his board to attempt to guide the club away from relegation in the remaining 17 league matches.

'I was told: 'You've got it until the end of the season, get on with it and get the club out of this position',' revealed Tuttle, who has tasted defeat in only one of his six matches at the helm.

'It's up to me and (assistant manager) Tony Burns to get the club out of trouble. We are all determined to escape the position we are in.'

Tuttle, whose team are three points adrift of safety, is certain the greater sense of stability will allow him to add to his squad during this month's transfer window.

He added: 'It will much easier to get players in, because they know what is happening now.'

PRESTON have completed the full-time signing of BOURNEMOUTH midfielder Brian Stock on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 24-year-old had joined the Lilywhites on a short-term loan to allow him to play at the weekend against Millwall.

But now the former Wales Under-21 international has made the move permanent for a fee of £150,000.

COVENTRY are considering a move for former Watford winger Paul Devlin.

The 33-year-old was released by the Hornets on Monday and said: 'I am now looking to go back to the midlands, where I can finish my playing career and be a lot closer to my family.

'I am talking to a couple of clubs and I'm hopeful that I can get a deal sorted sooner rather than later.

'Although I am naturally disappointed to be leaving a team that is doing so well, I understand why the manager is pursuing a youth policy. It makes sense and it is delivering results.'

Devlin has not played for the Hornets since the end of December, and had fallen behind Ashley Young, Anthony McNamee and Chris Eagles in the Vicarage Road pecking order.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST have placed veteran striker Gareth Taylor on the transfer list.

Taylor, 32, was left out of the Forest squad for Saturday's 3-0 win over Oldham, with new boy Grant Holt - a £300,000 signing from Rochdale - putting in a star performance in attack.

And the former Burnley man held talks with Gary Megson after the game which have led to him being placed on the transfer list.

Taylor has made 103 appearances for the Reds since his £500,000 move from Turf Moor in August 2003, scoring 23 goals.

SWINDON boss Iffy Onuora has wished Christian Roberts `the best of luck' after the striker was admitted to the Sporting Chance Clinic to battle alcohol addiction.

The 26-year-old Welshman confessed he needed help last week and has begun a residential period at the Hampshire-based clinic in a bid to overcome his problem.

The Sporting Chance Clinic was formed in September 2000 by former Arsenal and England captain Tony Adams MBE, and is a registered charity dedicated to providing support, counselling, treatment and aftercare to sportsmen and women who are suffering from addictive illnesses.

Past patients include former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu and Adams' former team-mate at Highbury, Walsall player-manager Paul Merson.

'How long he is there depends on his response to the treatment,' said Onuora.

'I've spoken to the people at the clinic and they will keep me up to date on his progress.

'We'll take it a day at a time because at this stage it's difficult to put a timescale on it in terms of him getting back playing football, but we all wish him the best of luck.

'Christian Roberts as a person is the most important thing, not Christian Roberts the footballer.'

TRANMERE boss Brian Little is hoping to add to his squad in the current transfer window - but is also wary of losing his best players.

Wales left-back Gareth Roberts and striker Delroy Facey are both said to be targets for Championship sides, and Little said : 'I think we'll be asking questions but whether we can do anything remains to be seen. We'll be both making and receiving calls.

'We've lost our best players in the past. It's a part of football. We have to be prepared for all circumstances, people move around all the time. But obviously no-one openly encourages bids for their best players.'

Little thinks Rovers are likely to extend Simon Francis' loan from Sheffield United for another month.

'At the moment we have a verbal agreement, but obviously if Sheffield United got a couple of injuries things might change. But it's looking likely,' he added.

HARTLEPOOL boss Martin Scott has been boosted by the news that Adam Boyd has resumed full training.

The 23-year-old striker has been sidelined for over four months after sustaining a serious knee injury in the 1-0 home defeat to Yeovil back in September.

Pools, play-off finalists and among the leading goalscorers in League One last season, find themselves at the wrong end of the division after struggling to find the back of the net following the long-term absences of Boyd, Joel Porter and James Brown.

And Scott admits his side have lacked a cutting edge during Boyd's injury lay-off.

'I think we have missed him. He's a quality player and any team in the division would miss Adam,' said Scott.

'He's a local lad who is obviously very well liked by the fans and he wears his heart on his sleeve. I'm delighted he's finally taking steps to regain his fitness.'

Chairman Rob Bickerton is unsure whether MACCLESFIELD will be able to drag themselves out of the financial mire.

The Silkmen have until the end of the month to raise over £250,000 to pay the Football Foundation, following an FA inquiry into the funding of their Estate Road Stand.

The club have announced various events to raise money, including an All-Star game, with players such as Christian Karembeu and Gianfranco Zola at Moss Rose on February 7.

Bickerton said: 'It's gone okay, most of the money we've had so far has been through donations. We had around £50,000 last Wednesday but obviously it's hard to give an exact amount when a lot of it is in 10 pence pieces!

'We have a big mountain to climb. We can see the top and are working hard to get there, but I couldn't say if we'll get there or not.'

ROCHDALE are poised to complete the permanent transfer of Tranmere striker Chris Dagnall.

The 19-year-old stepped off the bench to make his debut in Dale's 1-0 home defeat to Stockport after signing on loan in time to be included in Steve Parkin's squad.

But the loan deal was completed with a permanent transfer in mind, with Parkin hoping the teenager can fill the gap left by leading scorer Grant Holt, who completed a £300,000 move to Nottingham Forest last week.

BARNET have lost out to Kettering in the race to sign Stevenage striker Anthony Elding.

The 23-year-old held talks with the Bees over the weekend, but opted to move to the Conference North side - who are two divisions below Barnet - in a £40,000 deal.

Elding also attracted attention from Accrington, Burton, Scarborough, Cambridge and Southport.
