PSV, Feyenoord secure hard-fought wins

AMSTERDAM, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Leaders PSV Eindhoven and second-placed Feyenoord both secured 1-0 away wins in the Dutch first division on Sunday.

PSV maintained their one-point advantage at the top by beating Sparta Rotterdam despite playing half the match a man short after Michael Lamey received his second booking just before the interval.

Sparta dominated but PSV stole the victory after 74 minutes when Nebojsa Gudelj turned the ball into his own net after Jefferson Farfan's header bounced back off the post.

Sparta also finished with 10 men after Danny Schenkel was sent off a minute from time.

PSV have 45 points from 19 matches while Sparta remain third from bottom with 16 points.

Central defender Andre Bahia headed home a corner after 27 minutes to hand Feyenoord a 1-0 victory at Vitesse Arnhem, their first win at Vitesse for 10 years.

AZ Alkmaar remain third with 41 points and a game in hand following their 2-0 win at Heracles Almelo on Saturday.

Utrecht beat ADO Den Haag 3-2 on Sunday to go fourth with 32 points. Dave van den Bergh and Robin Nelisse struck in the first half, while Dwight Tiendalli added a third five minutes after the interval.

Michael Mols pulled one back for the hosts on the hour and Geert den Ouden converted a late penalty.

Ajax Amsterdam were held to a 1-1 draw by NEC Nijmegen on Sunday. NEC's Rob Wielaert nodded in the opening goal after five minutes but six minutes later Markus Rosenberg equalised for Ajax, who are sixth with 31 points.
