Siena man fails cocaine test for 2nd time
MILAN, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Jonathan Bachini, a midfielder with Serie A club Siena, has tested positive for cocaine, having already served a one year ban for previous use of the drug.
The Italian Olympic Committee said in a statement on Monday that Bachini had tested positive for 'methylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine'.
The Committee, responsible for doping controls in Italian sport, said Bachini's positive result came from a sample taken after the Dec. 4 match between Siena and Lazio.
Bachini was handed a nine-month ban, later extended to a year, in October 2004, after a positive test while playing for Brescia. The former Juventus player protested his innocence saying he must have drunk a spiked drink.
The 30-year-old wing back made one appearance for the Italy in 1998.
