Cos quits as coach of bottom club Alaves
MADRID, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Chuchi Cos quit as coach of the Primera Liga's bottom club Alaves on Monday following his side's 2-0 home defeat by Real Zaragoza on Sunday.
A statement on the club's website said: 'Cos has offered his resignation as first team coach to the board and it has been accepted.
'He will be replaced by his number two Juan Carlos Oliva with immediate effect. Cos will become technical secretary at the club advising on sporting issues.'
Cos guided Alaves to promotion from the second division last season then stepped aside into a technical similar role in July to be replaced by Rafael Montfort.
Club president Dmitry Piterman sacked Montfort after only six weeks, before the league season even started, and returned Cos to his position as first team coach in August.
The Basque club are bottom of the standings with 12 points from 18 games and have yet to win a game at home this season.
