A-League club Melbourne Victory insists no approach has been made for its Socceroo striker Archie Thompson despite speculation linking him to a move to Dutch giant PSV Eindhoven this week.
Socceroos coach Guus Hiddink is also in charge at PSV, with Thompson reportedly in the club's sights during the current European transfer window.
But Victory coach Ernie Merrick says the Dutch club has made no formal approach to sign Thompson either on a loan deal or on a permanent transfer.
He says the Victory wants to keep the Socceroos striker until after the A-League finals in February, and Thompson wants to help the club qualify for the top four.
The Victory is still no certainty to make the A-League top four, sitting sixth and needing a win over league leader Adelaide United on Thursday night in Adelaide to help keep in touch with the finals race.
