Hamburg SV and Hertha Berlin advanced Thursday night to the third round of the UEFA Cup along with AS Monaco and Lens.
Palermo, Espanyol and Slavia Prague also earned berths among the final 32 teams in the tournament, European soccer's No. 2 club competition behind the Champions League.
AS Monaco defeated CSKA Sofia 2-1 on goals by Olivier Kapo and Sebastien Squillaci, and Hamburg SV beat Slavia Prague 2-0 as Sergej Barbarez and Emile Mpenza scored.
Twenty-four teams advanced from the second round and will be joined in Friday's draw by the eight clubs that finished third in the first round of the Champions League: Artmedia Bratislava, Brugge, Lille, Real Betis, Rosenborg, Schalke, Thun and Udinese.
