Antoine Griezmann future to be decided before World Cup - Didier Deschamps

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone speaks about the future of his star striker.

France coach Didier Deschamps says Antoine Griezmann still intends on revealing where he will play his football next season before this summer's World Cup.

Griezmann, 27, was whistled by Atletico Madrid supporters last week as he continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu says he will not talk about a move for Griezmann until July 1 -- when his buyout clause drops to €100 million -- but Atletico have already warned the La Liga champions over their "inappropriate" pursuit of the forward.

Meanwhile, Atletico teammates and staff have reportedly been trying to convince Griezmann to stay at the club in recent weeks.

France have friendlies against Ireland, Italy and USA in the coming weeks before they kick off their World Cup campaign against Australia on June 16, by which point Griezmann's expected to have made a decision on his future.

"Griezmann's not annoyed [by all the speculation]," Deschamps said in a news conference on Wednesday.

"He said that he would sort the situation out before the World Cup and that's what he will do."

Asked if he knows which way the player is leaning, Deschamps added: "We will have to see what his choice is. Maybe we've spoken about it and maybe we've re-analysed it, but at the end of the day he's the one that has to make the decision."

Manchester United came close to signing Griezmann last summer before he performed a late U-turn and decided to remain in Spain when Atletico had their appeal against a transfer ban overturned.

However, the Catalan press remain confident that he will leave for Camp Nou this summer, with Jordi Alba the latest Barcelona player to encourage Griezmann to make the switch.

Referring to his transfer from Valencia to Barca in 2012, Alba said: "It's something which depends on the club and the player but when I had the [same] chance I took the decision to play for the best club in the world, to return to where I am from.

"It was when I was happy at Valencia and it hurt to leave because things were going well and I felt loved by the fans.

"Maybe he has the same feelings now, although I haven't spoken with him. Any player that wants to progress and be able to improve would be well off at Barcelona.

"He's a player that links play and scores goals. It would be a great signing, but it's something which depends on him and the club."

Speaking earlier this week, Lionel Messi also welcomed the idea of Griezmann, who he called "one of the best players at the moment," joining him in Barcelona.
