Kazakhstan sack coach Timofeyev

ALMATY, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan coach Sergei Timofeyev has been sacked following a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign.

Kazakhstan, the newest member of European soccer union UEFA, gained just one point from their 12 qualifying matches, holding another former Soviet republic, Georgia 0-0 last month.

Timofeyev offered to resign following a 2-1 home defeat by Denmark last month in their final European Group Two qualifier.

The vast Central Asian state were playing in their first qualifying campaign for a major championship since joining UEFA three years ago.
