Finn players offered their own street

BUCHAREST, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The mayor of Craiova says he will rename streets in the Romanian city after Finland players if they avoid defeat in their World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

A draw or a Finnish victory will secure Romania second place in Group One and a place in the playoffs for next year's finals.

The Czechs go into the match a point behind Romania, who have completed their programme, but their inferior head-to-head record means they must win in Helsinki.

'If Romania go into the play-off, I will give the name of Finland and of their key players to several streets in Craiova,' Pro Sport daily quoted mayor Antonie Solomon as saying.

'Then, I will invite the Finn to see their names taking a place in our city's history,' the mayor said.
