Arsenal sign Poom, send Hoyte on loan
Arsenal have signed Sunderland goalkeeper Mart Poom on loan.
The Estonian will provide cover for Gunners number one Jens Lehmann, who is banned from the first two Champions League games of the season, and joins on loan until the end of the year with a view to a season-long deal.
The 33-year-old dropped down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light behind Kelvin Davis, Joe Murphy and Ben Alnwick.
Gunners defender Justin Hoyte, 20, has moved in the opposite direction on loan until the end of the season.
Hoyte, who has made 17 first-team appearances for the Gunners, is an England Under-21 international and can play in any position across the back four, though he specialises as a right-back.
Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy told his club's official website: 'He has some useful Premiership and Champions League experience and his versatility provides me with cover.
'I'm absolutely thrilled to have him on board.'
Hoyte could make his Black Cats debut at Chelsea a week on Saturday.
