Bayern's Robert Lewandowski plays down agent split, summer transfer

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski laughed off suggestions that his split from a longstanding agent and the recruitment of renowned dealmaker Pini Zahavi means a move away from the Bundesliga champions is inevitable.

Lewandowski, 29, parted with Cezary Kucharski, his agent of 10 years, sources close to the player confirmed to ESPN FC last week, while earlier this month, Marca reported that Kucharski had "offered" Lewandowski to Real Madrid.

Lewandowski is under contract until 2021 and has scored 29 goals this season for Treble-seeking Bayern. However, he has persistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and Zahavi played a pivotal role in Neymar's world-record transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.

Asked if Zahavi had been hired to prepare a transfer, Lewandowski told Sky: "No, it has nothing to do with that. The speculation is funny, but it doesn't interest me."

Zahavi is also a familiar face across the top echelons of the Premier League, leading to increased speculation that Lewandowski could head to England if he decides to leave Germany.

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski has long been connected to a move to Real Madrid.

On Friday, Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes attempted to play down the speculation of a move.

"Lewandowski is allowed to change his agent for whatever reason he wants," Heynckes said at a news conference.

"This does not mean anything at all at the moment. If I know those responsible at the club properly, Bayern is not a selling club and wants to -- and will -- hold onto its best players. I cannot imagine that there is a chance this is going to happen."

In other transfer news, Sport Bild have reported that Bordeaux winger Malcom has agreed terms on a five-year contract at Bayern -- but the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.

Malcom, 20, has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 25 games in Ligue 1 this season.

The player's representatives at Elenko Sports Ltda. met Bayern for preliminary transfer discussions a few weeks ago, according to the report, and the Bundesliga champions are said to have "fundamentally" agreed terms with the player on a long-term deal.

However, amid reported interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern are yet to agree a transfer fee with Bordeaux for the Brazilian to close the deal.
