Man City confident over deal for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez - sources
Manchester City are increasingly confident of sealing a move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez during this month's transfer window, sources close to City have told ESPN FC.
Sanchez has been a long-term target for City boss Pep Guardiola, with the club having several bids for him rejected in the summer window.
A potential £50 million deadline day move fell through at the last minute because Arsenal were unable to find a replacement for the Chile international.
Sanchez is out of contract at Arsenal in the summer and is highly unlikely to agree a new deal, meaning he could leave for free at the end of the season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been steadfast in his desire to keep Sanchez despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation, but sources have told ESPN FC that he could now be prepared to sell the 29-year-old for the right price.
The news has encouraged City's hierarchy that a deal in the region of £30m could be struck this month with the forward still Guardiola's No. 1 target, although reports suggest the two clubs are some way from agreeing a fee.
Guardiola is the market for reinforcements after losing Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus for two months with a knee ligament injury, while Sanchez is reportedly keen to link up with him either this month or in the summer.
