Lyon express interest in signing Grzegorz Krychowiak from PSG

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas could make a move for Paris Saint-Germain's Grzegorz Krychowiak as they seek to bolster their midfield.

Along with Hatem Ben Arfa, Krychowiak was left in France when PSG headed to the United States for their preseason tour, and the Poland international has since been told he is surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes.

The former Sevilla man, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, could, however, fill a hole in the Lyon midfield, Aulas told RMC

"That could be an option. There are others, but that could be one," Aulas said, before adding: "We're looking for a last or two last players, and they would most likely be midfielders. We want to strengthen midfield with a No. 8 and also -- potentially -- a replacement who is complementary with Lucas Tousart."

Grzegorz Krychowiak has been deemed surplus to requirements by Paris Saint-Germain.

While Aulas and his team work on adding the final touches to Bruno Genesio's squad, which has already welcomed Bertrand Traore and Mariano Diaz, among others, this summer, he is also negotiating the return of Juninho Pernambucano to the club.

The former Brazil international spent eight years at Lyon, making a major contribution to their unprecedented seven successive Ligue 1 titles between 2002 and 2008, and establishing a reputation as a feared free-kick taker.

The 42-year-old ended his playing career at Vasco da Gama in 2013, and Aulas now hopes to use his former midfielder's expertise and experience in the role of Lyon's sporting director.

"We're making progress. I think we're about to reach a conclusion there," Aulas said. "We have to find not only the conditions of his arrival in administrative terms but also financially. We also want him to prepare his coaching badges.

"We're talking. But I hope we'll have good news before the end of August. And it's not immediately, it'll be in the weeks following."
