Sevilla want Steven N'Zonzi to remain at the club amid exit talk

Steven N'Zonzi
Steven N'Zonzi reportedly wants to leave Sevilla.

Sevilla coach Eduardo Berizzo wants to keep Steven N'Zonzi at the club despite the midfielder's reported desire to leave this summer.

Diario de Sevilla recently reported that N'Zonzi had asked to be transfer listed as soon as possible with his release clause set to increase by €5 million to €45m at the end of the month.

Juventus and Arsenal have reportedly monitored the 28-year-old, who impressed for Sevilla last season when he made 34 La Liga starts.

"I think he knows it and there is no need for the coach to say it," Berizzo told beIN SPORTS when asked about N'Zonzi's future. "He is a top footballer, with a physical presence. For any coach, he would be a key player and I hope we can count on him after Aug. 31."

In June, Sevilla president Jose Castro said he had not "closed the door to Juventus" to selling N'Zonzi, but the Andalusian outfit are not prepared to let him go for less than €40m.

N'Zonzi moved to Sevilla in the summer of 2015 from Stoke in a £7m deal and signed a four-year contract.

Under former coach Unai Emery, he made 37 starts in all competitions in the 2015-16 campaign to help Sevilla win the Europa League and finish runners-up to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla reportedly turned down an offer of €30m from Leicester for N'Zonzi last summer, before extending his contract in January.

N'Zonzi started in his side's 2-1 win at Istanbul Basaksehir in Wednesday's Champions League playoff first leg.
