Barnsley not considering Andy Yiadom until transfer future is resolved

Barnsley coach Paul Heckingbottom will not consider Andy Yiadom for selection until his future is resolved.

The Ghana international has been linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, and was dropped for the Tykes' home defeat by Ipswich Town at the weekend despite starting Barnsley's first game of the season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, the Yorkshire club's coach Heckingbottom has revealed that he won't be considering the 25-year-old while his future remains 'in limbo', with the Huddersfield Examiner reporting last week that the defender was set for a medial with the Premier League new boys.

"In my eyes I don't have Yids until I'm told different," Heckingbottom began, as per BBC. "It wasn't right for me to involve Yids in the game on Saturday and if it is still the same, it won't be Tuesday because it is not fair on the other players.

"We are all preparing for our game and obviously Yids is in limbo at the minute," he added. "Until it is resolved one way or another and I'm told, I'm not considering him."

Yiadom has established him as one of the most exciting right-backs in the Championship since signing from Barnet in May 2016, helping Barnsley avoid relegation last season while contributing three assists in 32 league outings.

The Holloway-born wideman has progressed to the professional ranks after spells in non-league with Hayes & Yeading United and Braintree Town, and was named in the Black Stars' squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as Ghana reached the semifinals.
