Italy coach Giampiero Ventura signs new deal until 2020
Italy head coach Giampiero Ventura has signed a new contract that commits him to the role until the end of the 2020 European Championship, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has announced.
Ventura, 69, signed a two-year deal when he replaced Antonio Conte -- who left to join Chelsea -- last June.
That deal would have taken him to the end of the 2018 World Cup but, having won seven of his 10 games in charge, the former Torino boss was handed fresh terms by FIGC president Carlo Tavecchio.
Italy are second in Group G for 2018 World Cup qualifying with five wins and a draw from six games, behind Spain only on goal difference.
A FIGC tweet read: "Tavecchio and CT Ventura during the press conference announced an extension of their relationship until 2020."
