Chelsea defender Matt Miazga joins Vitesse on season-long loan

Chelsea have announced that United States defender Matt Miazga will spend a second season on loan at Vitesse.

Miazga, 22, joined Chelsea from New York Red Bulls in 2016 before joining Vitesse for the 2016-17 campaign and helping them finish fifth and win the KNVB Cup.

This summer he helped the U.S. win the Gold Cup and scored his first international goal during the 3-0 win against Nicaragua.

"I felt very welcome and we have all made historic success," Miazga told Vitesse's official website of his return to the club. "That success will be expanded this coming season and I will continue to develop myself.

"That's why I returned as soon as possible after winning the Gold Cup. We are going to compete for the second prize in the club's history."

Miazga will join fellow Chelsea loanees Fankaty Dabo, Charlie Colkett and Mason Mount at Vitesse.
