Arsenal's David Ospina in talks over move to Fenerbahce - sources

ESPN's Arsenal correspondent, Mattias Karen, explains who he thinks is likely to be playing at the Emerates next season.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is in talks with Fenerbahce over a transfer, sources have told ESPN FC, though a deal has yet to be struck.

Reports from Turkey claim that Ospina has agreed a four-year deal with Fenerbahce and that the two clubs have settled on a €3.5 million transfer fee.

However, sources said that while negotiations are at an advanced stage, no agreement has yet been reached, with Fenerbahce wanting a loan deal and Arsenal keen on selling the Colombia international. Fenerbahce's talks with Ospina himself have gone smoothly and the goalkeeper is happy to make the move.

Fenerbahce and Arsenal are continuing efforts to find a solution but neither side have yet been willing to budge from their current position.

Ospina joined Arsenal from Nice in 2014 but has gone on to make just 24 Premier League appearances. The keeper made just 14 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season.

Ospina has grown increasingly frustrated playing second fiddle to first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech in the Premier League, although he has been first choice in cup competitions and started in the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Cech is expected to remain as Arsenal's first-choice keeper next season with Emiliano Martinez being promoted to a No. 2 role if Ospina leaves.

Fenerbahce have already had a busy summer signing Mathieu Valbuena from Lyon. They are keen on completing their transfers early as part of a squad overhaul following a disappointing season.

The Istanbul-based club finished third in the Turkish Super Lig and will play Europa League football next season as a result.

Arsenal will also compete in the Europa League after finishing last season outside of the top four for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
