Bayern Munich to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus on permanent deal

Bayern Munich have announced they have triggered an option to sign Kingsley Coman from Juventus permanently.

Coman, 20, who is in the second season of a two-year loan spell with Bayern, will sign a contract until 2020.

"He is a player with huge potential," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said. We're convinced that he will be of great help to us in the coming years."

"I believe he is a highly talented player," Rummenigge added. Unfortunately he had problems following the European Championship and was injured for three months.

"However, he has the talent and the potential to do great things. He is one of the players we are relying on in the future. He is a very young player who already plays regularly for the French national team and who has gathered experience at the European Championship.

"We are convinced he will make his mark and that is why we have decided to sign him.

"I really don't believe you have to worry about the future of Bayern Munich. Next season we will once more field a strong, competitive team that will not only play for the major trophies, but win them."

In November, Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he intended to sign Coman permanently, with Bayern having secured an option to do that for €21 million. Juventus confirmed that the fee is to be paid in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 financial years.

"Coman's future is with Bayern," he said. "We are all counting a lot on him. There's no chance of him returning to Juve."

Last summer Coman had already spoken of his intention to extend his time at Bayern when he said: "I would like to stay. When I arrived, it was my intention to stay for a longer period. Bayern Munich are one of the best teams in the world and I want to play here for many, many years."

In his first season at the club Coman won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal and helped Bayern reach the Champions League semifinals under Pep Guardiola.

Following defeats against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and DFB Pokal the only silverware Bayern can win this season is the Bundesliga.

Coman has previously won league titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus and was part of the France squad that finished as runners-up at Euro 2016.
