Agent: Lucas wants to succeed at Arsenal

Your Verdict: Transfer talk

Euro 2004 is over, the transfer window is open and the rumour mill is in full swing.

Your Verdict is also back in action after a European vacation and you lot have been sending your views on all manner of things to

The prominent themes have been regarding Wayne Rooney's potential move to Manchester United, continued debate over Michael Owen's future and Chelsea, of course.

What is this drivel regarding Wayne Rooney's 'Dream Move'? A 'Dream Move' for whom - the tabloid hacks? Have any of these journalistic cretins considered asking the young Rooney if moving to the hated Man Ure would be his idea of a 'Dream Move'? Probably not.

What they have all failed to grasp (or if they do understand, they've ignored it) is the fact that Rooney is living his 'dream'. He's playing for the two teams he loves most of all - EVERTON and England. So let the ignorant green-eyed morons choke on that.
D. Hughes

Wayne Rooney would be stupid to stay at Everton! Not only would he not be a part of the European action, his career would lose its momentum.

He proved during EURO 2004 that he can more than handle himself at the top level, so a move to a side such as Man Utd or Real Madrid is a must for Rooney

Why stay at a side who will be happy with a mid-table finish at seasons end? Come to the strength, join United!

I seriously do not think the furore and noise about Wayne Rooney is justified.

He has shown some promise, no doubt but needs to be watched for a few more years before the effusive praises start gushing out.The agent obviously has a fat commission at the end of the deal.

They should let Wayne concentrate on learning the art & science of soccer as he still has a lot to learn.

His temperament is equally a liability that he should be allowed to work on. He is too young and fragile to be catapulted into the superstardom of our fancies.

Let them let his feet stay firmly planted on the ground.

I think Man United should be serious about landing the lad. Next season will be horrible if we dont match the potential threats imposed by the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

There are no two ways about it, Rooney is an absolute answer.
Vincent Nkhoma, Malawi

Rooney is worth £15 million by the current market valuation and ManU should not pay anything more for someone who may not be any better than Alan Smith.

Besides, Saha is head and shoulders above Rooney in talent department, and United's main concern now should be the midfield that is devoid of any flare and imagination.

Strange how no clubs in Europe ,except English clubs, are interested in signing Rooney. Do the know something that Ferguson doesn't?

  • Chelsea....

Marcel Desailly has been a fantastic player & ambassador for Chelsea and I believe his decision to leave now will leave us with the very best memories of Marcel from his 6 year reign with us.

I would like to wish him all the very best, as I am sure every Chelsea supporter will, in whatever direction he decides to take his career.
    Linda Martin

PLEASE PLEASE NO. Desailly was a fabulous player about 3 years ago.

I don't want Celtic to turn into a retirement home for Desailly, Roy Keane and all these other guys who like the sound of 60000 fans in the twilight of their careers.

Give me the Greek right back Seitardis, Marek Heinz and any decent internationals in their mid to late 20's but no former superstars please.
    Dave Bhoy

Just want to highlight that none of the European big clubs show any interest in Kezman. So, make your own conclusion….
    Toh, Malaysia

The departure of Jimmy will be sad to say the least. Jimmy wears his heart on his sleeve and has given his all to Chelsea in the past few years. With the failure of Mutu and Crespo, Jimmy and Eiuder showed us that they were still one of the best partnerships up front in the league.

My favorite Jimmy moments are when he gets scragged or brought down and starts moaning at the ref no one does it better its A grade stuff!! Also his penalty kicks off one step are sheer quality.

  • Also, Liverpool ....

Liverpool should stop carrying on as if Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen are the only two important players they have.

Owen especially has been pretty ordinary for some time now and has probably lost more games for Liverpool than he has won for them during the past two seasons, what with missed penalties and easy chances going begging.

Let's move on from the Prima Donna era and get some effective finishers operating up front. If Owen wants to stay and fight for his place - OK, but not as an automatic selection regardless of form and performance.
    John Symon, Sydney

What's the big deal with Owen? This overrated striker hasn't delivered the whole of one year and is destined to go the same path as Mcnamanan.
