Chicago Fire seal signing of striker Nemanja Nikolic as designated player

Check out the best highlights from the Chicago Fire's new Designated Player, Hungarian striker Nemanja Nikolic.

The Chicago Fire completed a move to sign Hungary striker Nemanja Nikolic from Legia Warsaw on Tuesday.

Nikolic, 28, signed a three-year deal and will become Chicago's second designated player after David Accam.

The Hungary international has scored 20 goals in all competitions for Legia Warsaw this season, including one in the Champions League group stage against Borussia Dortmund last month.

Legia finished third in the group and secured a spot in the Europa League, but still sanctioned the sale of Nikolic for an undisclosed fee.

Nemanja Nikolic has signed a designated player contract with the Chicago Fire.

Last season, Nikolic helped Legia win the Polish Ekstraklasa title while claiming the league's golden boot and player of the year awards, and played for Hungary at Euro 2016 this summer.

"I am very happy to be joining Chicago Fire," Nikolic said in a club statement. "From the moment the club expressed interest and especially after speaking with manager Veljko Paunovic, and although I had other offers, this is where I wanted to be."

A Fire spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that the club had beaten out Hull City and Chinese Super League clubs for Nikolic's services.

In Chicago, Nikolic will be reunited with midfielder Arturo Alvarez, with whom he previously played for two years at Hungarian club Videoton.
