Nicklas Bendtner training with Copenhagen after Wolfsburg release

Denmark international Nicklas Bendtner is training with FC Copenhagen following his release by Wolfsburg last month.

Former Arsenal forward Bendtner is available on a free transfer after Wolfsburg reached an agreement to terminate his contract, which still had a year to run, with club CEO Klaus Allofs later saying his 2014 arrival had been "an experiment" and "not a successful one."

The 28-year-old is now working on his comeback after his agent, Ivan Marko Benes, contacted the player's hometown club on Tuesday.

Copenhagen boss Stale Solbakken told Ekstrabladet: "He has a training plan which he follows."

Bendtner resumed training with Copenhagen on Wednesday, working individually as the Danish Superliga leaders prepare for their Danish Cup final against Aarhus this Thursday.

He is expected to join team training in the coming weeks, and Ekstrabladet reports that Bendtner could be offered a contract in the summer if he impresses.

The report added that the striker, whom Allofs described as a "threat" to Wolfsburg's team spirit, will have to follow certain rules while training with the club, including informing the manager when not attending a session at least 30 minutes prior to its start.

Solbakken said Copenhagen are keen to keep the potential deal low-key and that Bendtner will not conduct interviews at this stage as a result.

"We don't want any fuss," he added.
