Nathan Ake favours return to Chelsea over Watford stay

Nathan Ake
Nathan Ake says his heart still belongs to Chelsea.

Nathan Ake says he wants to return to Chelsea when his loan to Watford ends after this season.

The defender has played well for Watford this year and has sparked reports that the Hornets would like him to sign a permanent deal.

But the 21-year-old told the Dutch FA's website that he would prefer to play for Chelsea if he can secure playing time at Stamford Bridge.

"Of course, I would like to return to Chelsea," he told the KNVB.

"But it is important for a player of my age to get regular playing time. Things have been going pretty well this season. I am getting plenty of gametime and I really feel like I am improving as a player.

"Let's see how the season ends with Watford and then we can start thinking about the future."

Ake remains under contract with Chelsea until 2020.
