Mathieu Debuchy joins Bordeaux on loan from Arsenal

Premier League winner Chris Sutton says that Arsenal need to strengthen at the back to avoid missing out on the title again.

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has joined Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season.

France right-back Debuchy, 30, returns to his homeland to secure regular first-team football ahead of Euro 2016.

Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle United in 2014 but, having lost his place to Hector Bellerin, has made only seven appearances for Arsenal this season.

A statement on Arsenal's official website read: "Debuchy returns to his homeland for the opportunity of regular football ahead of Euro 2016 this summer.

"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mathieu well for his time with the Girondins.

"The move is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."

Debuchy will wear the No. 24 shirt at Bordeaux.
