Former clubs to honor fallen player
LYON -- A memorial mass to honor Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe has been jointly organized by RC Lens and Olympique Lyon for next week, the two French clubs announced on Friday.
The service will be held at the cathedral of Saint-Jean in Lyon.
The 28-year-old Foe, who collapsed during Cameroon's 1-0 Confederations Cup semifinal win over Colombia on Thursday and died shortly after the match, will be buried in the colors of both clubs.
Foe joined Lens in August 1994 and helped the club win the French league title for the first time in 1998, as well as reach that year's French Cup final.
He joined English club West Ham United in 1999 before moving to Lyon in 2000.
He helped Lyon clinch the French League Cup in 2001 and its first French league title in 2002.
Foe spent last season on loan at English premier league Manchester City from Lyon.
