Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne an injury doubt for Bayern Super Cup final
Kevin De Bruyne has suffered a back injury in training for Wolfsburg ahead of the German Super Cup final against Bayern Munich on Saturday.
De Bruyne, 24, was a guaranteed starter for Wolfsburg, who are hoping to land their first German Super Cup against Bundesliga champions Bayern at the Volkswagen Arena.
The former Chelsea midfielder has been strongly linked with a return to Premier League this summer, with Manchester City said to be interested in acquiring the services of Germany's Player of the Year.
The Belgium international pulled out of training with back problems on Thursday morning, and is currently undergoing further examinations.
"The way he's moving right now, it makes little sense," Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking told kicker about De Bruyne's chances of being included in his Super Cup squad.

Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs has ruled out trading De Bruyne for Bayern midfielder Mario Gotze, telling kicker on Thursday that "swap deals don't always make sense."
De Bruyne was a key player for Wolfsburg last season as they finished second in the league and won the DFB Pokal, scoring 10 league goals and setting up 20 more.
Meanwhile, kicker reports that De Bruyne's teammate Ivan Perisic wants to leave Wolfsburg and join Serie A club Inter Milan.
The Croatia international has reportedly been allowed to start negotiations with the Nerazzurri by Wolfsburg despite the club's apparent desire to keep the 26-year-old winger at the Volkswagen Arena.
