Mario Suarez seals move to Fiorentina from Atletico Madrid

Mario Suarez will leave Spain to join Fiorentina next season.

Mario Suarez has completed his move from Atletico Madrid to Fiorentina.

The 28-year-old leaves the Vicente Calderon in search of more playing time, having made just 11 league starts last season.

Suarez came through the youth ranks at Atletico and returned to the club in 2010 after two years with Mallorca.

He leaves the club he joined at the age of 12 after making 121 appearances and scoring five goals.

Atletico had already announced Suarez's departure on Tuesday, saying in a statement: "Mario Suarez will play at Fiorentina. The two clubs have reached an agreement that will be formalised in the next few hours.

"The midfielder has been given permission by the club to travel to Italy to join the Serie A outfit."

Suarez, who has three caps for Spain, had two years left on his contract with Atletico and was a reported target for Inter Milan earlier this summer.

Fiorentina will play in next season's Europa League after finishing fourth in Serie A in the 2014-15.

Also on Friday, Fiorentina agreed a new contract with Federico Bernardeschi that will see their youth product tied to the club until 2019.
