PSG want Man United star Angel Di Maria but so do other big clubs - Blanc

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has reiterated his side's interest in signing Angel Di Maria, but hinted that they will face competition from other clubs if the Argentina winger decides to leave Manchester United.

United boss Louis van Gaal says that "a process" is underway that will end with the resolution of Di Maria's future at Old Trafford, while PSG coach Blanc has confirmed that his club are interested in signing the player who cost the Premier League side a British-record £59.7 million last summer.

Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be tracking Di Maria's uncertain situation at United, with Blanc predicting there would be plenty of potential suitors if the 27-year-old opts to move on this summer.

"The case of Di Maria is very complicated because I repeat once again, he is a player who plays for a very, very big English club which purchased him last year," Blanc said. "If eventually the player left, you can expect that other big clubs would also be interested in him. PSG are one of them.

"It's going to be a tough negotiation provided that the player leaves. We are following this case with great interest."

Meanwhile, there are big doubts over the future of Italian international Thiago Motta after he told PSG that he may leave this summer.

Thiago Motta appeared in 27 Ligue 1 matches for PSG in 2014-15.
Thiago Motta could be on his way out of Paris this summer.

Blanc has opted not to play Motta in PSG's upcoming preseason matches amid reports that he is keen to make a move back to his former club Inter Milan.

"We are aware of Thiago's position. It is very clearly expressed," Blanc said. "That of the club was also expressed very clearly.

"For the moment, they are incompatible -- they are not in the same interest. Thiago Motta will not be playing because he is not in the best frame of mind to do so.

"I hope that this situation will progress in the right direction because I have a lot of admiration for this player and this situation cannot go on forever."
