Matija Nastasic signs for Schalke from Man City in permanent transfer
Schalke have confirmed the signing of Matija Nastasic on a permanent contract from Manchester City.
Nastasic, 21, joined Schalke on loan from City during the January transfer window and has since made 11 appearances for the German club.
Following their 4-3 Champions League win at Real Madrid on Tuesday, which was not enough to prevent an exit on aggregate, the Royal Blues announced they have signed Nastasic on a permanent contract until 2019.
It was previously reported that a certain number of appearances for his new club automatically turns the loan into a permanent transfer.
"I am proud and delighted to stay at Schalke," the centre-back said. "I have been a part of the team from my first day on, and I want to contribute my part so that we as a club reach our goals."
The Serbia international, who has 17 caps to his name, struggled for regular first-team football under Manuel Pellegrini at City, failing to make a single appearance in the Premier League before joining Schalke in January.
Nastasic signed for City from Fiorentina in 2012 and went on to make 51 appearances in all competitions for the club.
