David Trezeguet set to hang up boots and reject Modena offer - report

David Trezeguet has received an offer from Modena.

David Trezeguet is set to snub Modena's offer to extend his playing career and instead announce his retirement, according to a report in Argentina.

Trezeguet, 37, last week thanked the Italian Serie B side for making him an offer, but informed the club that he would not be able to give them a definite answer until the end of the current transfer window.

Modena president Antonio Caliendo used to be the ex-France international's agent and he made the approach to Trezeguet, who was last seen appearing in the Indian Super League for Pune City.

"The former Juventus forward has given assurances about his current physical condition, thanks to a constant daily training regime, after the end of the season he has just played in India," read a statement on Modena's official website.

"Trezeguet has also informed president Caliendo that, since he still has a few private matters to resolve, he will only be able to plan his footballing future after the end of the current transfer window. David Trezeguet has expressed his gratitude for the offer."

It looks increasingly like Trezeguet will refuse the offer, with Argentine newspaper Clarin claiming on Tuesday that he has instead opted to bring an end to his career.

It claims also that the striker could be offered some kind of a role with Juventus, alongside board member Pavel Nedved -- a former teammate of Trezeguet's in Turin.

Trezeguet won three Serie A titles with Juve, although one was later revoked. He went on to play for Hercules, Baniyas, River Plate and Newell's Old, before appearing for Pune City.

Since the Indian season ended, he has received an offer from Modena but is currently on holiday in Argentina.
