Juan Cuadrado happy at Fiorentina despite Man United - Barcelona links

Juan Cuadrado insists he is happy to stay with Fiorentina after a move away from the Serie A club failed to materialise during the summer transfer window.

- Horncastle: Transfer grades for elite European clubs this summer

Barcelona and Manchester United were both reportedly interested in the winger, who finished the 2014 World Cup as the tournament's joint-top assist leader as Colombia reached the quarterfinals.

The Viola said they would not stand in the 26-year-old's way were the right offer to arrive, and their president Andrea Della Valle admitted he was pessimistic about their chances of holding on to the player.

Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
Cuadrado scored 11 goals in 32 league appearances for Fiorentina last season.

That offer did not come in, though, and Cuadrado insists he is and always was happy to be staying in Serie A.

"There was talk about Barcelona and United being interested, but I was always relaxed about it all," he told Radio Blu, reports violanews.com. "I'm happy in Florence and I'm pleased still to be playing for Fiorentina."

Cuadrado has a market value estimated at around 30 million euros, although his club put a 40-million-euro price tag on him. That may have been enough to warn off suitors this summer, but should he perform as he did last season, Fiorentina may struggle to hold on to him for much longer -- even if he is contracted to them until 2017.

It still remains to be seen whether the transfer talk has indeed distracted Cuadrado -- he was omitted from a preseason friendly against Real Madrid and did not feature in the Viola's 2-0 defeat to Roma prior to Monday's transfer deadline, but is expected to make his 2014-15 season debut against Genoa on Sept. 14.
