Chico and Hernandez depart Swansea

Swansea have confirmed the departures of Spanish pair Chico Flores and Pablo Hernandez to Qatar for undisclosed fees.

- Jolly: Evolution and revolution

Both players will play in the Qatari Stars League with centre-back Chico linking up with former Swansea manager Michael Laudrup at champions Lekhwiya and midfielder Hernandez joining Al-Arabi.

Both transfers are subject to international clearance but the moves will end two-year spells for the Spaniards at the Liberty Stadium.

Chico made 75 appearances for Swansea after signing from Italian club Genoa and helped the club to Capital One Cup trophy success in 2013.

PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEWS

As we count down to kickoff on Aug. 16, ESPN FC previews all 20 teams in this season's competition. Can Burnley, QPR and Leicester stay up? Will the new signings of Alexis Sanchez, Diego Costa and Adam Lallana help usurp Man City's crown? Will Manchester United get back on track under Louis van Gaal?

"It feels like I am leaving my family,'' Chico told the Swans' official website. "I have really enjoyed my time here. When we won the cup it was one of the best moments in my career.''

Hernandez, meanwhile, was signed for a club record 5.55 million pounds from Valencia in August 2012.

He made 57 appearances for Swansea and helped the club win the Capital One Cup, but his time in South Wales was often interrupted by injury.

The Swans hope to fill the loss of Chico by signing Federico Fernandez from Napoli and they are currently holding talks over personal terms with the centre-back after agreeing a fee understood to be over seven million pounds.
