Liverpool warned over Moreno deal

Sevilla have told Liverpool that they must pay the full asking price for left-back Alberto Moreno.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has long been interested in Moreno, and saw a 16 million-pound bid for the 22-year-old turned down in May.

It is reported that Sevilla value Moreno at around 20 million pounds -- and club president Jose Castro told Liverpool to match the asking price or look elsewhere.

"There have been negotiations [for Moreno], eight or 10 days ago, but there has been no agreement and nor is there today," he was quoted as saying in the Liverpool Echo.

"If Liverpool's offer is suitable, he will leave. If not, he'll stay and nothing will happen, absolutely nothing. We'll be at ease."

Rodgers has made signing new full-backs a priority this summer, and has already agreed a loan move for Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo with a view to a permanent deal.

The Reds boss is keen to sign a left-back despite the return to fitness of Jose Enrique, who missed the final six months of last season with a knee problem, while Aly Cissokho failed to make the position his own during a season-long loan from Valencia.

Moreno -- who has been warned by Iago Aspas not to join Liverpool -- is expected to line up for Sevilla against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final in Cardiff on Tuesday.

As we count down to kickoff on Aug. 16, ESPN FC previews all 20 teams in this season's competition. Can Burnley, QPR and Leicester stay up? Will the new signings of Alexis Sanchez, Diego Costa and Adam Lallana help usurp Man City's crown? Will Manchester United get back on track under Louis van Gaal?
