DeAndre Yedlin warned over Spurs

Kasey Keller has told U.S. international defender DeAndre Yedlin that he could struggle to get first-team football if he moves to Tottenham.

- Fitch: Pochettino wise to focus on defence
- Crace: Spurs show some promising signs

Keller, an ex-Tottenham and USMNT goalkeeper, said Spurs "is a tricky place to play" and a move to White Hart Lane would not be in Yedlin's best interests if he did not get a starting place.

The Seattle Sounders right-back attracted interest after some impressive substitute performances at the World Cup in Brazil as the Americans reached the round of 16. Roma are also reported to be monitoring him.

But the London Evening Standard quoted Keller as urging him to think carefully about his next move.

"Spurs is a tricky place to play," he said. "They're a team that has a lot of turnover in players.

"Spurs are a team that has the money, and they are always looking for a bargain, but it's a tough place to go.

"I just want to see young American players play regularly week in, week out. If that's at Tottenham, great -- but if it's not, then it's not the right move. It's hard to develop if you don't play."

He said he believed it was uncertain that Yedlin would qualify for the relevant paperwork if Spurs followed up their interest, adding: "I'm not sure DeAndre would even qualify for a work permit. He's never started a game for the national team, and it [England] is a tough place to get a work permit.

"My guess would be that if Tottenham are in the race, it would be to sign DeAndre and loan him out somewhere."
