Robinho closing in on Santos return

Robinho is on the verge of completing a move from AC Milan to Santos with the player's agent saying talks had gained momentum on Tuesday.

The Brazilian is surplus to requirements at the Serie A club, who have been trying to find a taker for the former Manchester City forward all summer.

They may now have found one with the player close to a return to Brazil, according to his agent Marisa Alija Ramos.

"Negotiations are at an advanced stage and they've accelerated in recent hours with only small details now to be defined," she told Lance!Net. "Now the chances of him returning to Santos are very high indeed."

Robinho has worn Santos' colours twice before already, starting his career there in 2002 before returning on loan from Manchester City in 2010. His next homecoming could happen as soon as Thursday or Friday.

"We're all very optimistic about the possibility of being able to announce Robinho's arrival in the coming hours," said the Brazilian club's president Odilo Rodrigues.

According to Lance!Net, Robinho could follow the same path as another former Milan player, Kaka, by moving to a Major League Soccer franchise in January, although the 30-year-old should spend the next few months in Brazil.
