Torres staying at Chelsea - Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has told Sky Sports that Fernando Torres will not be sold this summer, despite the Spanish striker being linked with a return to Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have overhauled their attacking options this summer with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba replacing Romelu Lukaku, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba, who have all departed.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Chelsea are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, which could further marginalise Torres, who joined from Liverpool in January 2011 for 50 million pounds, but Mourinho insists he is happy with his current trio of strikers.

He said: "Three strikers is fundamental in a squad and we have three strikers. Fernando, Didier and Diego, so one of them is not [going] for sure."

Mourinho has added Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis to his squad as well as Costa and Drogba this summer, and claims to be happy with the squad at his disposal ahead of the coming Premier League season.

He added: "We are so happy with the squad we have. We feel that the correct squad is exactly this type of squad we have, with people like Didier and John Terry, but at the same time people like [Andreas] Christensen and [Nathan] Ake.

"We have the squad we want and, I repeat, the club was fantastic in the way they worked so hard and so fast to get Diego, Filipe and Fabregas.

"The perfect squad would be with this 18 players, not 17 or 16, but rules are rules and we are working hard, even here, for not to have these kind of problems in the future.

"[We want] to have more English players in our squad which we are going to have in the future but in this moment we are still in the middle of this process, so at the moment we have to make a decision about one player not to be on that list."

There have been suggestions that, with Thibaut Courtois having returned from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid, Petr Cech could be offloaded, particularly with the need to reduce the number of foreign players in the squad.

Mourinho suggested it was possible that Cech could exit but insisted he was happy to keep him.

"We have competition for places all over the pitch," he said. "This is a club that wants to be strong and have real possibilities to compete for trophies so we need competition in every place.

"I know Mark Schwarzer is a very good goalkeeper, very stable, a group man, completely ready to be our second goalkeeper like he was last season when we needed him to play.

"So if he is our second goalkeeper we feel very safe with him, but to have Petr and Thibaut together in the same squad is a good problem for me."
