Freddie Ljungberg set for IPL

Freddie Ljungberg made over 200 appearances for Arsenal in a nine-season stay at the club.

Freddie Ljungberg is set for a short spell in the Indian Super League but is yet to reveal in what capacity.

The former Arsenal and Sweden winger announced the news via his official Twitter account and it was also confirmed by the Indian Super League's Twitter.

He said: "Joining Indian Super League in September for 3 months to help promote football in India...

"...Even though I am retired, the opportunity to play in India is really exciting...

"...Keen to share my knowledge and experience of the Premier League."

The 37-year-old follows former Liverpool forward Luis Garcia and ex-Spain international Joan Capdevila in heading to the league.

Capdevila will represent North East United, while Garcia will play for Atletico Kolkata.

Ljungberg announced his retirement from professional football in August 2012 bringing an end to a career in which he won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with Arsenal.
